Newton Farm Foods are a family-run farm shop based in Bath selling quality fresh produce, meat and other food products. They approached Clyq back in 2020 when the world was plunged into a pandemic and the UK was locked down and hospitality and retailers were forced to close their premises.
Newton had a website which had an online shop but it wasn’t performing for them quite how they needed it to, and a lot of orders were being done manually over the phone and by email. They needed a website which had the capacity to display the variety of products they had on offer, as well as have the functionality to take payment online and manage the sale and delivery process, which is fairly complex to ensure that the delivery team don’t become overwhelmed since they are a small outfit.
They wanted the e-commerce site to work alongside their existing website which they didn’t want to remove since they were happy with that and had a good working relationship with the designer, but they wanted to add the online shop as a “bolt-on” facility.
We decided the best system to work with their requirements was to use WordPress and WooCommerce and design it to match their current website so that customers would find the experience familiar and trustworthy. We had the site built and their products imported and integrated with their payment system and EPOS facility. Since the site’s completion they have had hundreds of orders and had record Christmas sales which they were thrilled about.
The following year, we further progressed the functionality by having some development work done so that they can utilise the data more efficiently during their busy Christmas period and we continue to support them in the expansion and maintenance of the site.
“Amy has helped us a business grow and develop our online shop. She has worked closely with a number of us here at Newton Farm helping and guiding us through Woocommerce and making sure aesthetically our online shop replicates our website. Amy has been patient training us on how to do a number of things ourselves, as well as stepping in last minute to make last minute changes. At Christmas Amy organised a developer to work with us to ensure our Christmas orders reported in a way that we could practically use her in the business. I would highly recommend Amy’s services.”
